First Visit

Your initial appointment will consist of an evaluation and consultation to determine if treatment is indicated, and if indicated, the possible treatment options that might exist.  This consultation will include a discussion of risks, benefits, options, and the possible outcome(s) of no treatment. Treatment can sometimes be provided at the time of consultation, if indicated by your referring dentist, and when scheduled in advance.   Updated radiographs are often required at the time of this consultation.  If presenting for consultation for retreatment of a previous root canal, our office offers three-dimensional (3-D) cone-beam computed tomography (cbCT) imaging to better evaluate your problem.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your referral slip and radiographs, if applicable
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.  This can be provided when completing the medical history online before your appointment or at the office the day of your appointment
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, please bring your insurance information. While we are a fee-for-service practice and typically do not accept insurance as a form of payment, we will file your insurance claim due you
  • A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under the age of 18
  • Please alert the office in your medical history if you have a medical condition that might be of concern prior to treatment (diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, history of rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are taking medications or if you require premedication (antibiotics) prior to indicated dental procedures

Radiographs and Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (cbCT)

If your referring dentist has taken recent radiographs, you may request your radiographs be emailed to our office via the email address: patientcare@northraleighendo.com.  You also have the option of bringing hard copies to our office.  If images are older than one week, or additional diagnostic information is required, Dr. Horalek will likely recommend new images be taken at our facility.  Periapical radiographs are included as part of your consultation and treatment fee, so there is no fee for two-dimensional (2-D) radiographs during consultation or treatment.

Cone-beam computed tomography (cbCT) / (3-D imaging) is also available at North Raleigh Endodontics.  Indications for cbCT include, but are not limited to, complex anatomy, retreatments, resorptive defects, challenging diagnosis, pre-surgical and implant planning, unexplained swelling, and unexplained pain in the oro-facial region.
